Crypto Update
Binance reserves billions. But can you access your crypto yet?
Original source published:
A large amount sounds reassuring. Yet reserving money, holding the right cryptocurrencies and letting customers withdraw are three different steps. Binance’s new statement makes that distinction worth understanding.

What is Binance reporting now?
On 30 October at 10:55 UTC, Binance said it had reserved more than $6.34 billion of company funds for the incident. It said $5 billion was already held in the exact token assets affected, while purchases of the remaining tokens were continuing.
That is more specific than the earlier promise to cover losses. It remains a company statement, not independent confirmation that all shortfalls have been filled or that customers have received their funds.
Why do the particular tokens matter?
A dollar amount describes value. Someone with a balance in one cryptocurrency does not automatically expect a different coin in return. Binance says it is therefore obtaining matching token assets.
A simple fictional example: a shop promises to replace a missing product. Setting money aside helps, but the shop still needs to obtain the right product. Similarly, reserving an amount is different from already holding every required token. This example says nothing about Binance’s actual financial condition.
Why can replenishing assets take time?
According to Binance, some tokens are harder to buy in large quantities. There may be few available sellers without a large price change. The company is also buying directly from trading counterparties, and settling those agreements takes time.
Binance separately mentions about $3 billion in frozen assets. It says those are excluded from its company-fund figures. But frozen does not automatically mean recovered or paid back to customers. Do not add the amounts together as proof that recovery is complete.
What does this mean for you?
The new statement does not announce that withdrawals have resumed. Official service information still says withdrawals are paused, while deposits operate normally. A visible balance and an available withdrawal are different things.
Check the official app or website before relying on access to your crypto. Do not pay an unknown helper to release a withdrawal or compensation. Binance says it will publish updated reserve information later; that is not a completed independent review now.
